Time management Tips ..

These days with increasing work pressure, pressure for studies and household chores, you will find lots of people hankering, craving and praying for an impossible wish that a day extends beyond  24 hours as this is too small a time to complete all jobs. However one may have wishful thinking but the fact remains this is an improbable logic. You can prioritize the work to be done ASAP, failing which you can complete the next day. Whatever the case may be, the innate thing is you have to be a master in your time management skills to attain your goals and objectives more effectively and efficiently.

Management gurus will define time management in the most arduous way but in a nutshell, time management is planning and distributing the available time between various activities to optimise productivity and achieve the desired goals and objectives. No one is a born achiever. The competence, the zeal and the unflinching desire to perform and utilise the available time in the best possible way and manner is what comprises time management. Time management is a skill that has to be mastered effectively. Here are some of the tips for effective and constructive time management.

  • Set up achievable goals and prioritize your task – Set up tasks that are urgent, important and realistic to achieve. Delegation of urgent tasks that are not so important is necessary. One should filter and channelize the unimportant jobs to be handled at later dates.
  • Maintain a daily checklist – This is a very important function of time management. You have the set of priority jobs written right in front of you. Every particular job that has to be performed on that day is jotted down and it is vital to even note down the most difficult to the easiest jobs.
  • Plan a time audit for all-important jobs – Once a checklist is created, you know the priority and the importance of all jobs that you have earmarked for a particular day. Set aside a realistic time frame for all jobs. The choice of actuality is very important in this case. For example, completing minor project details may take two hours whilst browsing through and replying to emails may take half an hour. One must strive hard to stick to the time frame assigned for the jobs.
  • Weekends are the best for planning – Although Sundays are meant for relaxation, time to spend with family and friends, for a better and more productive week ahead, one can plan a day-wise schedule for the upcoming week by going into the micro and the macro details of the work entrusted.
  • The day starts with top tasks – The most important task and the job must be completed right in the morning. It requires a lot more concentration, understanding, attentiveness and thoughtfulness to complete the most important works and this must be looked into.
  • The golden hour strategy – Every person during the working hours of the day has a peak prime time of work. The peak prime time will vary from person to person. This time denotes the span when the working efficiency of a person is at its peak. The toughest and the most incredulous of the jobs should be completed during this period.
  •  Handling big projects – Many a time it may happen for an office executive or a student to handle cumbersome projects which need to be submitted within a deadline. A common occurrence in these cases will be getting goosebumps and eventually muddling up the entire work. In such cases, instead of wasting precious time and energy, the ideal thing will be to break done the entire project into smaller time chunks. At the end of the day, precious time is saved.
  • Stress Management – This is the time of cut-throat competition and surging ahead, be it in the corporate world or the field of studies. To be in the best of mental health proper stress management is of utmost importance. This is not the time to drag your feet on any job. The keyword is time management.

Remember, the ultimate catchword ——- work smarter and faster , perform and go to the top or perish.
