Artificial Intelligence and the education scenario.…
Artificial intelligence or AI as it is phrased can be best described in a nutshell if we say that it enables computers and machines to be smarter enough to perform the tasks, think and learn almost exactly like a living being without having been encoded. One can also say that AI is a perfect blend of DEEP LEARNING and MACHINE LEARNING TECHNIQUES. The best examples of AI which can be understood by a common man are the recommendations suggested by organizations with services as diverse as Netflix, Amazon, Google, YouTube, Spotify, Gaana, and operations of the automated cars from Tesla. In the years to come AI will almost have its accomplishments in everything which a man requires daily. Even now the presence of AI is in the fields of entertainment, e-commerce, healthcare, lifestyle, navigation, robotics etc. Very soon it will be in agriculture and human resources management. The globally reputed research organisation Statista confirms that by the end of 2025, revenue generated from AI applications globally can touch a whopping 126 billion dollars, whilst another organisation Servion Global Solutions estimates that by the next 5 years AI will have a staggering 95% client interactions in all spheres.
Let us have a look at how artificial intelligence will help the education sector in the future.AI is slowly and steadily becoming a part of the crux of the education scenario. It is slowly but consistently making its way into the various aspects of education which will be beneficial for the teaching fraternity as well as the student community.
For the teaching fraternity –
Platforms like textbook guides, syllabus guides, conferences, video lectures, course content lectures especially for skill enhancement courses and competitive exams are possible through the digitization of the contents. AI can very well assist in making such content into animation forms if it is required for different grades of students. Already PictoBlox AI, the country’s first interactive AI-based education platform has been developed keeping in mind India’s youth. The teachers can plan to monitor their students for revision, assessment, reminders and can provide them with guides, sudden notes and lessons. The AI Proctor has been extensively used during the ongoing pandemic for conducting examinations when the students did not have any option but to sit for their exams by sitting at home only. The Proctor has won accolades for successfully supervising the exams.
For the non-teaching administrative staff –
AI can be very successfully implemented for back-office assignments in any educational or tutoring institute for doing all administrative related jobs. This is evident from some of the tasks performed during the ongoing pandemic. Students can be informed through text messages on the latest updates in the institute, maintenance of attendance sheets, enrolment of new courses and giving necessary feedback along with fees collection and organising virtual parents-teacher meetings.
For the student community –
The Voice Assistant interface in AI can help students to access the lectures of the teachers or professors even if he or she has missed them due to any reason. Moreover, the students can also browse through lectures in the same subjects from top educational institutes around the world and can enhance their knowledge. Many expert tutoring services including superior skill-enhancing curricula are available globally now and the students can get the right to use them for their overall betterment right from the comfort of their homes. This system in the long run will be very beneficial for students who are in the rural and semi-urban areas and getting the best teaching materials are a bit difficult. They can now compete with students from the urban belt and the metro cities. AI will positively impact individual learning experiences for individual students.
The greatest benefit of AI is that it can adapt to the individual needs of students and will go miles to sharpen and better the weak spots of the student community in general in the future.
